Early reports from Sutter Health hospitals affected by the California Nurses Union strike confirm that a significant percentage of nurses do not support the union’s tactics and have chosen instead to come to work to care for patients.

Crossover numbers have been reported so far from the following Sutter Health affiliates:

  • Novato Community Hospital: 90%
  • Sutter Delta Medical Center: 55%
  • Eden Medical Center: 41%

Many nurses recognize that Sutter Health hospitals provide competitive wages, benefits and a rewarding work environment. In fact, the average full-time nurse working at a Sutter Health hospital affected by the strike earns $136,000/yr in addition to no-cost or low-cost health benefits and a pension plan that pays, on average, $84,000 per year after retirement.
