Healthcare Costs

As a not-for-profit health system, we pledge to do our part to hold the line on health care cost increases and make high-quality care more affordable for patients and employers.

See several examples of what we’re doing to reduce health care costs.

Efficient Care and Service

We’ve achieved more than $200 million in cost savings and benefits through our Shared Service Center, which streamlines and standardizes the business side of Sutter Health. By 2017, we expect to achieve a $300 million savings every year.

Through a new imaging system we’re implementing in 2015, we expect to save up to $10 million every year.

From 2008 to 2013, we’ve helped our health plan partners save $54.1 million by working closely with doctors and patients to prescribe generic medications whenever possible and appropriate.
